Zebras have moved up six places in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola rankings released yesterday, despite being inactive this month. They move from 95th to 89 in the world and jumped two places to 23rd in Africa.

The Zebras had been on a downward spiral since the start of the year despite posting positive results. During the period under review, the Zebras remained inactive but still find themselves moving upwards. The 2012 AFCON debutants failed to get opponents for a friendly encounter during the FIFA international week with most countries involved in the last matches of the qualifiers. Zebras had already wrapped up their campaign with the last match being a 1-0 defeat away to Togo.

Having already secured their position at the top of Group K in the qualifiers, there was scramble for the second position in the group between Malawi and Tunisia as to who joins Zebras at the next year's AFCON. A 2-2 draw by Malawi and Chad handed Tunisia the qualification. C™te d'Ivoire remains Africa's best side despite moving down three places on the global ladder.
