Women's soccer sends SOS to BFA

The Women Football League Committee (WFLC) has sent an SOS to the Botswana Football Association (BFA) for financial assistance. WFLC chairman, Ishmael Mokome Mokome said they expect a positive response from the BFA after they made their request.

"They have not said anything at the moment, but we expect them to help us because they really understand our situation," Mokome said. Financial difficulties affecting other sports codes has hit women football as well and this has resulted in delays in the start of the league.

Mokome said that though they do not have money, it is their wish to see women's  teams play in order to improve their game. He hopes the on-going Women Affairs Department sponsored tournament which ends next weekend, will help clubs raise revenue to cover their travelling expenses once the league starts. He stated that the clubs are financially constrained and some of them have even failed to take part in the ongoing tournament.Despite delays, Mokome said the committee is working with clubs to draw league fixtures.
