Banyana Banyana thumped Botswana 3-0 to book a place in the African Women’s Cup of Nations with a resounding 5-0 aggregate win at the Makhulong Stadium in Tembisa on Tuesday.

Mamello Makhabane opened the scoring for Banyana when she converted from the penalty spot in the 15th minute. Sanah Mollo doubled the lead in the 30th minute after a champagne pass from Janine Van Wyk. Nompumelelo Nyandeni scored the third goal to round up what was a great display by Vera Pauw’s charges. Banyana progress to the Women’s Cup of Nations scheduled to take place from 19 November to 3 December in Cameroon while the Zebras lose out.

The Gaolethoo ‘Ronaldo’ Nkutlwisang-coached outfit, despite elimination, put up a brave fight and has shown signs of progress.
