"Weekend Special" the donkey, steals the show in Maun

It was ecstasy and joy for the donkey champion rider, Johannes Puyano who won two races in the finals riding Weekend Special. Puyano won P6,000 for winning the championships. The second and third positions in the finals won P2,000and P1,500 respectively. All the donkeys in the top 10 was also given a prize.

Clothing shop Dunn's sponsored this years donkeys Derby to the tune of P50,000. Duuns started this competition five years back as part of their corporate social responsibility. Regional sales Manager, Thembi Mothibi said the concept was born out of the realisation that there are many donkeys in Maun idling around and giving problem to motorists. She said that when they organised the competition they hoped that it would help in the problem.
