Sportswear company, Puma has said it is still in contention to become the next Zebras technical sponsor, following reports that the company had somehow lost interest.

In a telephone interview from his Cape Town base, Puma marketing director, Brett Bellinger told Mmegi Sport that they were in communication with the Botswana Football Association (BFA). "We submitted a proposal a few months back. We are quite interested in the sponsorship deal. I am not sure about reports that we are not responding to communication from the BFA, but we spoke as recently as this morning (yesterday)," Bellinger said.

He said that there has not yet been a firm decision from the BFA and Puma will be patient. "It is all up to the BFA and there is no urgency on our part," he said. The BFA has delayed naming a new technical sponsor amid strong reports of divisions within the executive.
