Walker ends season with British Open

Botswana's squash star, Alister Walker wraps up a successful 2012 season when he fights for top honours in the British Open this week.

Walker returns to England to compete in the prestigious tournament after switching his allegiance to Botswana last June. He squares up against some of the world's best squash players, but will be buoyed by last month's two PSA titles. Walker has had a successful season after winning two PSA titles after beating his former English teammate Tom Richards in the PSA World Tour International 35 event final last month. He went on to beat Alan Clyne 3-1 in the final of the Irish Open three weeks ago.

Botswana Squash Racket Association (BSRA) development manager, Koketso Ntshebe confirmed that Walker will be the only Botswana representative at the British Open this week. "Yesterday  Alister (Walker) played his first game  in the British Open held in London. He played against Chris Simpson from England in his first round match," Ntshebe said. The Gaborone-born star was based in England for much of his life until the beginning of last year. He moved from England early this year and is now based in New York, United States of America (US).
