Vultures' Swazi tie elevated to test status

The stakes are high ahead of the Vultures' match against visiting Swaziland tomorrow at Wharic Park, following the elevation of the match to test status.

The match had initially been scheduled as a preparatory match for the upcoming CAR 6 Nations tournament, to be staged in Gaborone from July 22nd - 29th, but the Botswana Rugby Union (BRU) has raised it to test status for the 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifiers. Vultures' manager, Matthew Gibson, said the new development means everyone will give the match a much more serious approach."It was scheduled just as an international friendly, but it's been elevated to a test match for the 2015 Rugby World Cup qualifiers," he told Mmegi Sport.

The Vultures technical team will have a chance to see some players who didn't get a run during last weekend's international friendly match against Matabeleland in Selebi-Phikwe. The Vultures won the match 32-14."We have players who we are going to give a chance to start. We didn't see these players in our previous warm up match and it's important because it's a test match, it's not the friendly that we have had in the past," he said.
