Underperforming Zebras hog cash as excelling codes starve

The under-performing national soccer team, the Zebras is still the toast of sponsors and financiers despite a very unflattering track record since a maiden appearance at the AFCON last year.

While the struggling Zebras are chewing fat cash, excelling national teams are feeding on crumbs with no signs that the status quo will change.

This week, the national women volleyball team returned from a triumphant trip in Zambia yet there were no cash incentives for the players. But when the Zebras got a 4-1 drubbing by Bafana Bafana in their last World Cup qualifier, they were rewarded with a P150,000 windfall from diamond mining giant, Debswana.
