Under-16 Afro-basket preps suffer setback

National Under-16 basketball team preparations for the FIBA Championship for Women suffered a heavy knock when some key players pulled out owing to upcoming school examinations.

Botswana is sending a team to compete at the Africa zone qualifiers. The winner at the tournament, which will be held in Zimbabwe will compete in the FIBA Under 17 World Championship for Women. The team has been in camp preparing for the tournament and leaves for Harare today  for the 10-day event.

Botswana Basketball Association (BBA) public relations officer James Kalebwe said the only challenge is having to do without the Form Three students who were key members of the team. "We had to do without the Form Three students because they are writing examinations.
