SELEBI-PHIKWE: The technical bench of the Re Ba Bona Ha Under-13 rugby side will use the forthcoming Lou Corbi tournament in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to establish if the players have learnt the basics of the sport, the team co-ordinator has said.

Thusego Segaise said the main focus of the 30-strong team that is currently in camp is to develop techniques and strategies such as tackling, passing and catching the ball.

He said that they are not going to Zimbabwe for victory but to establish if the players have grasped basic techniques. The Bulawayo tournament is scheduled to start on November 29. Segaise urged parents to continue availing their children to the Re Ba Bona Ha programme to keep them away from social ills. He said the programme started in Selebi- Phikwe but after seeing positive results it has been rolled out to Maun, Francistown and Gaborone with players mainly from the Tlamelo project in Old Naledi.  He said since the inception of the rugby programme, players from two sides have graduated and are doing well in junior school teams. He said this shows that the programme is contributing to the development of rugby.
