A cloud of uncertainty hangs over the Botswana softball junior men team's trip to Yukon, Canada, for the International Softball Federation (ISF) Under-19 World Championships billed for June 20-30.

Twelve countries are expected to battle it out in a round robin system competition with Botswana and South Africa being the only African nations at the tournament.

Botswana Softball Association (BSA) president Marumo Morule said though there are a number of hiccups, money is the main thing that may shatter the team's dream of competing at the international tournament. He added that they also have a lot of stakeholders who should approve their trip. "We really cannot confirm now but we are still hopeful that we will make it", Morule said, adding that they need about P440,000 to travel to Canada. He would not reveal the amount that they have in their coffers at the moment. The softball boss also said they are still awaiting the approval of their budget from Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) to top up the money they have. Despite the hurdles, preparations for the tournament are ongoing as the team continues to train. "Preparations are going on and I believe we have covered sufficient ground," Morule said.
