Uncertainty hangs over volleyball league

The start of this year's volleyball league remains in doubt after several postponements.

However, the Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) president, Daniel Molaodi has said preparations for the kick-off are going on smoothly and the competition will start soon.
He refused to reveal what has delayed the start of the league, saying he will avail the information as soon as everything is in place. However, an inside source said that the league will not start because there are no playing suits. Speculation is rife that the BVF had contracted a South African company to supply them with the suits but the sponsors, Mascom asked for the cancellation of the contract as they preferred a local supplier.

The contract has reportedly been cancelled and a local supply company has since been engaged. The federation is said to be waiting for samples as well as quotations from the local company. It is understood that since the year is drawing to an end, it would not make sense to start the league. The source said it looks like the old committee that sourced the sponsor overlooked some key issues.
