Unavailability of FIFA branded balls delays league match

SELEBI-PHIKWE: The unavailability of FIFA branded soccer balls almost led to the cancellation of the FC Satmos versus Great North Tigers (GNT)match at the Selebi-Phikwe stadium on Tuesday.

Referee Joshua Bondo said he could not start the match as there were no FIFA balls. He said only FIFA inspected balls could be used for Premier League matches, while teams had brought their own balls.

Bondo explained that according to FIFA laws no advertising is allowed on the ball except the FIFA logos, manufacturer and other images related to the tournament or the league. Bondo said he could have cancelled the game if there were no recognised balls after 45 minutes.
