UB Stadium eyes 2010 World Cup

A management committee has been set-up to make sure the recently refurbished University of Botswana (UB) Stadium is fit for use by countries coming for next year's World Cup in South Africa.

The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) executive secretary, Kitso Kemoeng and the University of Botswana (UB) director of sports, Dr Dele Akpata issued a joint press statement yesterday saying the use of the stadium will be restricted as a preservation measure to make it ready for practice sessions by World Cup teams.

The statement said the stadium was re-grassed in a bid to attract participants of the 2010 World Cup to hold training camps in Botswana.
