UB honours sports excellence

The University of Botswana (UB) on Friday honoured some of its excelling sports personalities for their contribution to sports development in the country.

Netball team, UB Crystals was crowned the Team of the Year. The UB club compete in the national league. UB Crystals outclassed other UB teams with remarkable  discipline on and off the field. The rugby team Rhinos was crowned the Club of the Year. Footballer, Moemedi Motlhagodi, who plays for Books Botswana club at UB, is the Sportsman of the Year, while badminton player Kesego Mereole of the local badminton club is the Sportswoman of the Year.

Gofamodimo Chanana, of Books Botswana was presented with the Sports Leadership award. He was captain for the UB's Inter-varsity teams, and chairman of BOTESA. BNSC sponsored awards for two former students who performed exceptionally well in sports during their university days. Keamogetse Modise, who plays netball, and badminton's Martin Ngwanaamotho won the two awards and were presented with hospitality kits and P1, 000 cheques.
