Tsiang twins invited for elite tennis training

The Tsiang twins Tsholofelo and Tshegofatso have been given an opportunity to secure a place at the new elite tennis training centre in Morocco.

The two have been invited for a week-long talent identification programme, which starts on August 31. Tsholofelo and Tsiang, whose father, Oshinka, is a former Botswana Tennis Association (BTA) president, did well at the ITF/CAT Africa Junior Championships held in Namibia early this year. The duo brought gold and silver medals from the tournament respectively.

The Morocco programme is aimed at recruiting young players for the new centre, which will now replace the High Performance Centre in Pretoria, which is due to be closed in September.  Botswana's Innocent Tidimane, who is based at the Pretoria centre, will thus move to Morocco. BTA spokesperson, Trevor Modise said ITF decided to close the PHC, as it was expensive to run. If successful the 11-year-old twins, who are Day Spring School students, will continue with their studies while playing tennis.
