Tshosane blames poor preparations for bad start

Zebras' coach, Stanley Tshosane has attributed inadequate preparations for the team's poor start to the Brazil 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

The Zebras lie fourth in Group A with only one point after two matches. They started on the wrong footing, losing 2-0 away to Central Africa Republic (CAR) before salvaging a point against South Africa's Bafana Bafana on Saturday. Tshosane told a press conference, after the Bafana game, that things would be different if they had prepared adequately. "I'm not making up excuses, but I think we would be talking a different story if we prepared well before the start of these games," he said.

The Zebras played only two friendly matches, against Lesotho and Iraq, and Tshosane said this was inadequate to try new combinations. He would have liked to play two or even three more friendly matches preferably against tougher opposition, but had to do with what he had. The former BDF XI mentor said he desperately needed a win against South Africa to be in a better position to finish top of the group and move to the last stage of the qualifiers. His desire to win saw him finish the game with three attackers, Jerome Ramatlhakwana, Kekaetswe Moloi and Moemedi Moatlhaping after sacrificing defensive mid-fielder, Patrick Motsepe for Moloi.
