Troubled Rollers call for indaba

There is no doubt that all is not well at Gaborone giants, Township Rollers. The troubles at the club seem to have heightened after the shock exit from the prestigious Coca-Cola Cup at the hands of minnows Mochudi Buffaloes.

This Sunday, the Rollers' family convene at the Gaborone West Junior Secondary School to chart the way forward.

The man who will be on the spot is definitely, managing director Somerset Gobuiwang who is no longer a favourite at the club. Some people are accusing the pompous businessman of running the club as a one-man show. The 2006 Coca-Cola Cup fiasco where Rollers refused to honour their semi-final replay against BDF XI is said to have been major contributing factor to the troubles at Rollers. Mapalastina was kicked out of the cup they were well positioned to successfully defend. But while the knives might be out for Gobuiwang, he should be credited for turning the fortunes of Rollers around since taking over in 2004. Who will forget the memorable Coca-Cola Cup and Premier League double in 2005 when Rollers have just come back from the First Division? After the feat, Rollers started selling players to South African Premier League sides. But with the latest developments, all these have become history and something needs to be done before the situation gets out of hand.
