Transfer market activity gathers pace

The transfer market is beginning to gather momentum a month after it opened. Gaborone United (GU) has been the busiest side in the market but other teams have intensified their quest to bolster their squads.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs have reportedly agreed terms with long-serving Township Rollers' striker, Onalethata Tshekiso, after weeks of negotiations. Tshekiso's contract with Rollers ended recently and joins Chiefs on a free transfer.  He is the second key player to leave Rollers in this transfer period for free after defender; Edwin Olerile completed his move to GU two weeks back. Tshekiso's move would come as surprise to many Rollers supporters who would have expected the club management to fight to retain him after many seasons of loyalty.

He is expected to fill the void left by Jerome Ramatlhakwana who has since joined Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) side, Don Bosco. Chiefs are also reported to have sealed a deal with TAFIC defender, Kago Nfila, who will be fighting for a starting berth with the likes of Arnold Chaka, Thabiso Khunwane and Michael Mogaladi at the heart of the defence. Chiefs are said to have lost attacking midfielder Godfrey Ngele who is likely to join city rivals, Rollers.
