Tough test for Fighters' title credentials

Mogoditshane Fighters' late surge for the First Division South League title face a major test tomorrow when they face fellow contenders, Letlapeng of Ramotswa.

Interestingly, the man in-charge of Fighters, Botshelo Pelokgosi, has coached Letlapeng before and he should have the edge over his opponent, Timmy Setswe. Perched at the top of the log with 35 points, Fighters' cause has been helped by the fact that Mochudi Buffaloes have been dropping points lately. But they should not expect any favours from the fourth-placed Letlapeng who still fancy their chances of winning the title and getting promoted to the Premier League. They came very close last season, only losing out to TASC during the promotion play-offs.

Fighters have shown good character in the last quarter of the season, coming from the bottom five to take the lead after the arrival of Pelokgosi who decamped from Killer Giants. It remains to be seen if they can sustain the surge pressure and stay tops until the end. Shooting to the top has come with its blessings and pressures as everybody is now targeting to bring them down but the former national champions have the experience and the pedigree to go all the way.
