Top players qualify for table tennis championships

FRANCISTOWN: Thirty-two top men and women table tennis players, have made the cut to compete at this year's National Championships to be held in Gaborone next month.

The selection came after the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) Orapa Open tournament held last weekend.  Sixteen players from each section made it to the national tournament.

In the men's section, Joseph Kgatlampane won his first BTTA competition in a decade. He registered a rare 3-2 victory over Bonolo Mabote, which was his first in a long time. He has been struggling terribly to overcome Mabote, but this time around he triumphed in the semi final. Kgatlampane, then proceeded to beat McDonald Qalinge from Nhabe 3-2 in the final. In the semi finals, Qalinge beat fellow club mate, Kennete Santudu 3-1.
