Title race still on - Santos

"It is not over until the fat lady sings," this is a statement from title-chasing Uniao Flamengo Santos after their side suffered an unexpected 2-1 defeat to Township Rollers at the National Stadium on Tuesday night.

After watching Santos succumb to a determined Mapalastina, some Chiefs' supporters are adamant that their side will walk away with this season's title. When referee Tebogo Ramocha blew the final whistle, some Chiefs' supporters hugged one another, saying that the trophy is already in the bag. Chiefs are leading the pack with 43 points from 17 games while Santos are second with 35 points from the same number of games. But Santos' coach Raphael Phiri is confident that his side will fight until the end. "You can only say that dreams are over at the end of the league. Football is a funny game and things can change as we still have 13 games to play," Phiri told Mmegi Sport yesterday.

He said that on Tuesday night, things did not go well for them, hence the failure to close on their title rivals. "We made a lot of mistakes especially in midfield," he said. Santos missed the services of influential midfielder Patrick Mathaba, who normally gives the Gabane side shape in the middle of the pack.
