Title decider in England

Come the end of 90 minutes tomorrow, the Barclaycard Premiership title could be decided at Stamford Bridge, when leaders Manchester United visit Chelsea in what promises to be a thriller.

Both sides meet after getting a slight edge in the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in midweek following away draws against formidable opponents. United should approach the game with more calm nerves because any result will still leave them in pole position to successfully defend their title. For Chelsea who have not lost at Stamford Bridge in 41 matches, a win is a must to keep the pressure on the leaders. Victory tomorrow will see Chelsea go level on points with United, which will still remain tops because of a superior goal difference. A defeat or a draw for Chelsea will virtually assure United the title. Currently, United are in the lead with 81 points, three more than Chelsea after 35 matches. After tomorrow, both sides will have two matches each to complete the league.

The fact that Chelsea have proven irresistible at home is good enough to give United manager Alex Ferguson headache. But he can take solace from the fact that all has not been good for Chelsea coach, Avram Grant.
