After missing out on the 400-metre race due to a recurring injury, the world’s fastest junior runner, Baboloki Thebe remains a doubt for the 4x400m relay race scheduled for early tomorrow morning (2:10am).

Speaking to Mmegi Sport from Rio de Janeiro, the Botswana team manager, Glody Dube said Thebe has been under the watchful eye of a specialist and his availability for the race would be determined by the doctor’s report.

“We are waiting for the doctor’s report, thereafter, a decision would be made.  But the rest of the guys are okay, the team is getting ready for the race,” he said.  The relay team has been boosted by the availability of 800m London Olympics silver medallist, Nijel Amos.  The middle distance runner failed to reach the semi-finals of the 800m race after coming seventh in the heats.  He is struggling with his fitness levels.
