Zebras’ coach, Peter Butler had meticulously plotted for Uganda but the two game defining passes left the plan in tatters. The coach had asked his defence to watch the clever runs of old wily fox, Geofrey Massa and his penchant of deceptively pulling away from defences.

However, although it was not Massa who grabbed the goals, the Zebras coach had warned, in his pre-match talk, of similar movements which would result in both goals.

“Massa is getting old, but makes intelligent runs. You must be aware of him pulling off your shoulder on to the far post,” Butler noted in his pre-match conference. He had noted that while Uganda goalkeeper, Dennis Onyango was a big unit, his handling was average and there was need to constantly test him. However, in the first half Onyango was hardly tested, but conceded soon after resumption when Onkabetse Makgantai slid in the equaliser.  Boitumelo ‘Navara’ Mafoko was warned about the Cranes’ No.7 as Butler said he had the penchant of dropping deep allowing their No.3 to push forward. “Navara be aware, he drops deep and then the number three bombs forward. Communication will be vital here with Skebo (Kabelo Seakanyeng),” Butler noted.
