The Return Of Botswana Football Export

FRANCISTOWN: One of Botswana's football exports, Steve Kilego has resurfaced in Francistown, and is itching for a chance to kick the pigskin in the Premier League again.

The 26-year-old player who has plied his trade in Namibia has been languishing at home with an ankle injury. He suffered the injury during a social tournament in Selebi-Phikwe in 2005. By the time he was on holidays from Walvis Bay, where he was playing for a Namibian, top league side, Blue Waters, alongside Zebras goalkeeper, Noah Maposa.

At the end of the 2004 season in Namibia, a senior official of Blue Waters sent him for trials at a Switzerland team, FC Lucerne where he met the grade. He was waiting for paperwork to be completed before jetting to Europe when the freak injury occurred. He then joined Debswana as a plant operator trainee in 2006.
