The Buffaloes' rock of defence

Ask any striker in the First Division South which defender he finds most difficult to beat and the answer will most probably be George Mponiki. The Mochudi Buffaloes centre back is hard to beat both on the ground and the air.

His well-timed tackles make him the envy of fellow defenders and the nemesis of seasoned campaigners such as Tshepiso Molwantwa and Donald 'Coach' Mopako. Even the slippery Mothusi Lekoko of Letlapeng will confess that 'Big George' does not fall for funny tricks.

He is a trusted player by his teammates and Buffaloes supporters who call him Bokfell - a name normally associated with strong willed and hard workers. The Chadibe-born defender has been playing for Buffaloes since 2007. But currently he is on loan at the Kgatleng side after he was sold to Gaborone United (GU) two years ago.
