Tennis Prodigy With Passion For The Game

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Passion, talent and discipline are the words that can describe 11-year-old Innocent Tidimane. The talented tennis player has achieved what his peers in sport can only dream of in his short tennis career.

Tidimane started playing tennis in 2007 at the age of nine while doing Standard  Four at Phikwe Primary School. The youngster told Monitor Sport that the Botswana Tennis Association (BTA) coach Wellington Sibanda, groomed him. Sibanda is still coaching Tidimane at the Selebi-Phikwe Tennis Club.

"I have taken part in some tournaments in Selebi- Phikwe and Gaborone. I played in the two John Pickles and Sons tournaments that were held in Gaborone. I managed to win in the Under-12 doubles in 2008. I also played in the Kim's Auto  tournament that was also held in Gaborone in August last year and managed to win  a gold medal in doubles and a silver medal in singles," he said.
