Tennis coach blames lack of experience for poor show

Coach of the Botswana team Peter Mthele said his players matched their opponents pound for pound but were let down by poor finishing.
However, he said he was generally impressed by their performance. Fifteen countries participated in the competition that attracted over 80 Under-18 players. All 16 Botswana players failed to go beyond the second stage of the tournament that ended on Wednesday. Mthele said there is need to host more tournaments to give the youngsters exposure. He said Botswana players were at a disadvantage compared to their South African counterparts because they do not have Centres of Excellence to play tennis and go to school at the same time.
