TAFIC overcome Police XI

FRANCISTOWN: TAFIC started the Mascom Premier League campaign on a high note by walloping Police XI 3-2 at the Francistown Stadium over the weekend.

Matjimenyenga, which blew hot and cold last season amid internal troubles, seem to be set for a good season this time after rectifying past mistakes. New Zimbabwean imports Sizalobuhle Dube and Melvin Nyakabangwe had a good game for TAFIC and showed that they have what it takes to play in the Premier League.

The duo played extremely well, especially Dube who took care of the dangerous Tamocha Bedi. The Jungle Kings' defence led by the lanky Tebogo Tshuma were always in trouble when TAFIC surged forward. Early chances in the match went begging until the 25th minute when Osenyeng Tsenang converted from the spot after a handball by an unsettled Police XI and national Under-23 right back Moreetsi Mosimanyana. A minute later, Nyakabangwe ripped Police XI midfield apart and doubled the lead with a powerful shot that goalkeeper Jackson Legodi failed to stop. Police XI tried hard to reduce the deficit before halftime but their efforts hit a snag. By recess, Matjimenyenga were leading 2-0.
