TAFIC coach blames referee for Coke loss

FRANCISTOWN: TAFIC head coach Godfrey Tamirepi has attributed his team's elimination from the lucrative Coca-Cola Cup to incompetent officiating. The Zimbabwean coach, who rarely blames referees after losing games, complained last Sunday after his charges allowed the newly promoted Boteti to come from behind to knock them out with a 2-1 defeat.

He said that the second goal by Mogomotsi Ferguson in the 87th minute was scored from a clearly offside position. TAFIC landed in trouble after its under-pressure defence committed a foul near the danger zone. Boteti's new signing from Uniao Flamingo Santos Kgakgamatso Pharo chipped the ball over TAFIC's stagnant wall and Ferguson was quick to follow and grab the winner.

"That was a clear offside. That guy was alone but the referee remained silent. Anyway, that is part of the game," said the seemingly worried Tamirepi who asserted that he has accepted the loss. He said that his boys lacked fighting spirit, hence they conceded two quick goals in the last 10 minutes of the game.
