Table tennis official seeks help

A senior Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) official has appealed for help and guidance to improve the game because his committee lacks critical expertise.

BTTA secretary general Game Mothibi said their efforts to develop table tennis to the desired standard have been hampered by lack of expertise in some areas. "No matter how much we are determined, we have realised that we cannot do it alone," she told Mmegi Sport yesterday. She added that the sport is dominated by young people who need guidance but in some cases these youngsters double as players and leaders.

Mothibi said they need mature administrators even if they are not sports people. She revealed that she may not seek re-election in April but she urged her colleagues to be prepared to elect a committee that can bring changes. She explained that table tennis need determined administrators who are willing to make sacrifices.
