Swift Comets Ease Relegation Woes

Jwaneng Comets eased their relegation worries when they defeated Township Rollers 1-0 in the Mascom Premier League game played under chilly conditions at the UB Stadium in Gaborone on Friday night.

A solitary goal from striker Ringo Rankgomo in the 40th minute was enough to give the swifter Comets maximum points and put them in a better position to dodge the dreaded axe. Comets now have 28 points and a win against Notwane at the Galaxy Stadium on June 9 might be what the doctor ordered for the diamond-mining town outfit. On Friday, the Jwaneng boys competed for every ball and had they been patient in front of goal, they could have beaten their opponents by at least three goals.

The loss has reduced Rollers' chances of finishing among the top eight at the end of the season. Rollers never showed the hunger and aggression they demonstrated when they defeated Gaborone United and BDF XI.
