Swallows Slaughter Hapless Gunners

By beating Gunners, Swallows became the champions of the two-day tournament after collecting six points. The Dube Birds had a tough night of Friday, narrowly beating Mochudi Centre Chiefs 1-0 in an entertaining game.

Against Gunners, they nearly faltered early when Abednico Powell forced goalkeeper Greg Etafia to parry the ball for a corner in the 16th minute. But things changed completely midway through the game when Swallows raised the tempo and Mapantsula were found wanting. Powell who had a brilliant debut for Gunners against Cosmos, chased shadows throughout the game save for his shot in the 16th minute. The former ECCO City midfielder fared badly when defending and unnecessarily gave away possession.
