SVM re-launch on tomorrow

FRANCISTOWN-The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) will re-launch the Sports Volunteer Movement (SVM) at the Adansonia hotel tomorrow.

The organisation folded a few years after its formation due to personal and work commitment by some of the members of the executive committee. BNSC sports development officer for Francistown region, Odirile Sibanda said the main purpose of the event would be to elect new executive committee members. The members will be tasked with spearheading the organisation's strategic plan. "We do not have specific individuals who will run for executive positions to lead the movement. Everyone who is interested in serving the organisation and sports can contest for any position on election day," he said. He also stated that members from different sports codes affiliated to BNSC would be eligible to vote at the elections. Sibanda said they would welcome other members willing to assist the movement in a non-executive capacity. He said participants are also expected to come up with ideas on how best to run the movement. BNSC chairperson   Solly Reikeletseng will officiate at the event, according to Odirile.

Meanwhile, on the same day at Adansonia Odirile said 16 regions that took part in last year's Botswana Games would make presentation of their analysis of the games. "We are also expecting them to make recommendations on how the games can be improved to make them highly competitive," he said.
