Sullwald wins desert race as Toyota falters again

Karl-Heinz Sullwald and navigator Quinton Sullwald won the 30th edition of the Toyota Kalahari 1000km Desert Race in Kumakwane yesterday.

The duo drove their Special Category BAT Spec Four to the finishing ramp first to break the hearts of many who had already given the race to Toyota.

The Sullwalds are the second drivers to win the race with a special category vehicle, after Mark Corbett who was navigated by Juan Mohr in a Jimco in 2000. The category had a good race this year with four vehicles finishing in the top five.
