Struggling Spartans aim for strong finish

Botswana's reigning basketball champions, Spartans will be hoping to finish the Africa Club Champions Cup Tournament strongly today when they play Zambia's Heroes in Maputo, Mozambique.

Spartans, the men's champions and women's titleholders, BDF V, are in Maputo for the Club Championships and have both lost all their games.Spartans played Zambia's Magic in their opening game and lost 57-37 before going down to Angola's Petro 130-44.

They then played defending African champions Club Desportivo Premeiro de Agosto and lost 80-38 on Wednesday. Yesterday's tie against Africa's third best team Libolo De Angola ended 95-55 in favour of the Angolans and Spartans now look to put up an improved performance against Heroes this afternoon.BDF V's first two results were also not impressive after a 155-12 whipping at the hands of Perimerio De Agasto of Angola and a 162-19 drubbing by another Angola outfit Interclub.
