Stand Up For The Champs

FRANCISTOWN: ECCO City Greens have written Botswana football history when they became the first team in the north of Dibete cordon fence to win the Premier League when they beat Notwane 2-1 in a game played at the Francistown Stadium on Saturday.

The game attracted a magnitude of supporters including top ranked politicians, among them Francistown West Member of Parliament Tshelang Masisi. On Saturday, ECCO City started like a house on fire but they could not find an early goal. It was Notwane that got an early lead through top marksman Tshepiso 'Sox' Molwantwa who scored from the penalty spot in the 19th minute.

However, deadly striker Malepa 'Chippa' Bolelang's brace was enough to give the champions maximum points, ensuring that they sit at 66 points with one game remaining. It is in the last game against BDF XI on June 9 that ECCO City coach Barry Daka might decide to use the players who have tasted little action this season.
