Splinters lose key players

FRANCISTOWN: Basketball side, Splinters have lost key players since the league campaign kicked off. Both Splinters sides, men and women, lost three players each, which has affected their performance in the league.

Splinters coach, Merapelo Mogotsi said Splinters men lost forward centre Velaphi Mchunu who has joined rivals, Flames at the beginning of the season.

Forward Wabo Seloka, guards Koosimile Leetshupile and Amogelang Mmunyane also left the club. Leetshupile moved to Gaborone while Mmunyane now works in Selebi-Phikwe.   Mogotsi, who is also Splinters' captain, said some players fail to attend matches due to work commitments. The Francistown side did not sign new players during the mid season transfer window. "We are using mostly players from schools and they are inexperienced. Most of our players are usually held up due to work commitments. The majority of our players are in the army," he said.
