FRANCISTOWN: Hosts Spartan trounced a cocky Itekeng 3-0 to win their Mascom National Volleyball league game played at the BDF Second Brigade camp on Saturday. But despite not capturing a single set, Itekeng, from Jwaneng, definitely gave the shrewd Diphatsa a run for their money looking at the scores in all the three sets- (25-17-25-23 and 25-16.

The first set was nothing to write home about as Itekeng could be excused for not acclimatising, but it was the second set where they threatened their hosts all the way.

The likes of Potlako Senwelo, Tshitego Charles Maifhala and Onkabetse Mabikwa were a constant threat to Spartans' defence with their telling spikes. But the bottom line is that Spartans seemed to have been better prepared psychologically for the game looking at the fact that even when the chips were down, they still fought their way back into the game.
