Softball team faces USA in opener

FRANCISTOWN: Botswana Under-19 softball team play hosts, United States of America in the opening game of the World Baseball and Softball Championships (WBSC) in Michigan, USA.

The locals are in tough Pool A with the USA, two-time and defending champions Argentina. Australia, Czech Republic, Venezuela and Denmark complete the pool of seven teams.

In Pool B, Africa’s only other representative, South Africa face New Zealand, Canada, Japan, Mexico and Israel. After playing the hosts, Botswana will then face Denmark, followed by Argentina, Czech Republic and Australia respectively and then take on Venezuela in the last pool game.
