The national Under-19 softball team left for Cape Town, South Africa, yesterday to take part in the IX International Softball Federation (ISF) Junior Women's World Championships which start on Wednesday.

The girls will join 15 other nations in a competition that is expected to run until December 17. Botswana finished last in the same competition in 2007. The team did not train as a unit as they only met a few days before departure.

Speaking at the farewell dinner on Thursday, the Minister of Youth, Sport and Culture Shaw Kgathi told the players to go out and play their own game and not put themselves under undue pressure.
