Softball boss attacks BNSC over stadium funds

*BNSC, BSA trade accusations

The Botswana Softball Association (BSA) president, Marumo Morule, has criticised the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) for withholding funds meant for the relocation of the National Diamond. Morule said they have appealed the decision because they feel it was done in bad faith and not in the best interests of sport. The outspoken softball boss told Mmegi Sport that he suspects the BNSC did not have the money in the first place. "I do not think we are at fault. I think there was never any money allocated to us in the first place and that our slow response was a blessing to the BNSC," Morule said.

BSA was allocated P750,000 for the National Diamond relocation last year. But the association forfeited the funds after it failed to claim it before the financial year ended in December 2010. The BSA president argues that they were never informed that the money would be forfeited. He demands that the money be made available. "The money was for a special project and I do not understand why it should be treated like the annual grant," Morule said.
