Smash maniacs are pingpong champs

Smash Maniacs dominated the table tennis club championships over the weekend when they won both the men and women's finals yesterday afternoon at Ledumang Senior Secondary School.

Initially, the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) had planned to hold the tournament over one day, but had to overlap into Sunday due to poor lighting.  The teams had to disperse after the group stages on Saturday as it got dark at the Ledumang Senior Secondary multi-purpose hall.

But the unforeseen change did not daunt the teams, as they put up fine performances in the final. The men's final between Maniacs and Nhabe was tightly contested with the set at 2-2 at some stage. Maniacs only sealed their victory in a deciding game, winning it 3-2. Maniacs' Joseph Kgatlampane and McDonald Qalinge of Nhabe battled it out in the deciding game.
