FRANCISTOWN: The northern women teams have hardly enjoyed the same benefits as their southern counterparts, who make up the Super League. Recently, women’s football received P240,000 and equipment from FIFA, but nothing will go to the north with the funds meant for the Super League teams.

With MacLean Letshwiti replacing Tebeogo Sebego as the new Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, teams from the north hope to get a piece of the cake as per his campaign promises.

Francistown women’s football league chairperson, Baikgantsi Motlaleng told Mmegi Sport they have been promised they will benefit in the next package from FIFA.  However, he said they have received similar promises before, which were never fulfilled.
