Sibanda replaces Sandaka at BMC

Lobatse side BMC has signed Mandlenkosi 'Sukunyetsa' Sibanda from ECCO City Greens to replace Sageby Sandaka, who rejoined Gaborone United last week.

Sibanda's contract with ECCO City ends on December 31 and he joins Ezinkomo as a free agent. While ECCO dilly-dallied in their response to enquiries, Botswana Premier League (BPL) has confirmed the move, although the Francistown club is yet to release the player's registration book. ECCO's public relations officer, Keletso Gomotsang, has limited his comments to confirming that Sibanda's contract would expire on December 31."Of course, his contract with us ends on December 31 and he has not extended it," Gomotsang told Mmegi Sport. "So it could be true."

Similarly, BMC chairperson, Sonny Phiri, saidSibanda's move was not yet a done deal. "I can only confirm that we are interested in him," Phiri said. "We are also aware that other teams are chasing him." Before the start of the season, the club's Zambian coach, Chris Tembo, had said Sibanda was not in his plans. The Zimbabwean striker, who has done quite well this season, recently said his situation was distressing because the club had not opened negotiations for a new deal.
