Debswana First Division South League leaders, Sharps Sweeping Stars ended the first round on a high note after opening a four-point gap at the top of the table. They pulled away from Uniao Flamengo Santos, Mogoditshane Fighters and Black Peril who have been breathing on their necks.

Sharps, looking for their first ever promotion to the Premier League, thumped fellow contenders, Notwane 3-0 in an exciting end-to end match on Saturday. The match despite the heavy score line lived to its hype.

The match did not only attract a large number of spectators, but it also saw both sides dishing out entertaining attacking football. Led by experienced campaigners among them Moemedi Moatlhaping, Langa Mabuli and Monageng Thaele, Sharps now appear destined to make their own history.  They lead the pack with 24 points from 11 games. Sharps have lost just one game and drew three. Not only did they keep a clean sheet against Notwane this past weekend, but also their record shows they have conceded just three goals in 11 games. Santos, Black Peril and Fighters are on 20 points with an even more interesting second round expected.  The three have all tasted Premier League football before with Santos and Fighters having won Coca-Cola Cup and league titles respectively. Notwane on the other hand are trailing log leaders by seven points now.
