FRANCISTOWN: While many children his age are playing safe with bicycles, Nathan Berrie, a Standard Two pupil at Clifton Preparatory School in the second city, has conquered Southern Africa.

He is defying gravity in motocross’ gruelling tracks on a KTM 50SX motorbike.

Born in Johannesburg on February 3, 2009, the Lobelo Racing Club rider is the eldest of three sons in a family of five, with all members’ avid bike riders. At four-years-old, in 2013, Berrie was already a rider of a Yamaha TTR50 motorbike. Now, still at a tender age of seven, barely taller than the bike he rides, Berrie has re-written local motocross history books after he was crowned the Federation International de Motocyclisme Southern African Challenge MX50 champion over the past weekend.
