Setback for Botswana games

The third edition of the Botswana Games suffered a major setback yesterday after some districts overhauled their teams, throwing the accreditation process into disarray, while swimming and boxing events had to be pushed forward following various hitches.

The annual showpiece kicked off yesterday in Gaborone and the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) games standing committee's chairperson, Boitshoko Tsiane told the media yesterday afternoon that they had already encountered a few challenges.

"We thought we had done a great job in terms of accreditation, but teams changed, they made overhauls and there was no way we could send athletes back. We had to do the process from scratch," he said.
