Seribe upbeat ahead of Benin Champs

Sprint star, Pako Seribe is upbeat ahead of this week's Africa Senior Championships in Benin and tips the 4X4 relay team to qualify for the London 2012 Olympics.

Local athletes get a last chance to qualify for the Olympics in the Porto Nova starting today. The Senior Championships run from today until July 1. Seribe has been preparing for the Olympics in Rome, Italy and has vowed to bring a medal home.   "The preparations are going on very well and I feel my performance is improving everyday because I have been competing in several races here.

"I am ready for the Africa Senior Championships and this time I want to bring home a medal because I feel geared up for it," he told Mmegi Sport. Seribe, a B standard qualifier in the 400 metres, is convinced the 4x4 relay team will qualify for the Olympics in Porto Nova and also tips 200 metres runner, Obakeng Ngwigwa, to run a qualifying time. "I can assure you that the relay team will qualify and I also see Obakeng making it," he said.
